Mycoplasma pulmonis in Rats:Isolation and Characterization of the Agents and Serodiagnosis by Complement Fixation Test

Abstract

|
The relationships between the isolation of Mycoplasma pulmonis complement fixation antibody titers was investigated in 10 and 12 weeks old conventinonal rats. In order to isolale Mycolplasma pulmonis, specimens were collected from trachea and horn of uterus. Complement Fixation test was carried out by the method of Division of Animal Research, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo. The isolation rate, of Mycoplasma pulmonis were 65% in rats. The isolation rates of Mycoplasma pulmonis in trachea and uterus were 63.3% and 10% respectively. In antibody titration by CF test, 58.3% of rats showed positive reaction and 38.3% of rats showed negative reactions, 82.1% of rats from which Mycoplasma pulmonis was iaolated were positive in CF test.
